3.1Identity and values
DIA’s mission is to offer consumers solutions to their food and consumer product needs underpinned by a value for money pledge that is unique in the marketplace, while meeting the expectations of all its stakeholders: employees, franchisees, suppliers, shareholders and society in its business markets.
Efficiency, Initiative, Respect, Teamwork and Customers are the values that govern DIA’s activities and the guide for its professionals’ conduct and decision-making.
Underpinned by these values, the company has an Ethics Code that guarantees the ethical professional conduct of all of its employees and, by extension, the organisation. An updated version of the Code was approved in December 2015.
Throughout 2015, DIA worked to comply with the new corporate governance recommendations approved by Spain’s securities market regulator, the CNMV, on 15 February 2015, with the aim of maximising its credibility, becoming increasingly transparent and fleshing out and approving its various corporate policies.
On 11 December, DIA’s Board of Directors voted to adapt DIA’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, which articulates the social commitments underpinning its profitable growth and evidences its commitment to the community and its natural surroundings.
As a by-product of this process, the Risk Management Policy, Investor Relations Policy, Tax Policy and Environmental Policy were also revised, adapted and publicly disclosed. This effort will continue in 2016 with the fine-tuning and dissemination of the remaining corporate policies.
By publishing these policies on its corporate website, the company has provided further evidence of its transparency pledge and its commitment to furnishing increasingly detailed information about the principles governing its relations with its various stakeholders.
